Artist Statement:
"Man Eater" confronts the relentless consumption and objectification embedded in the male gaze. This work represents the power dynamics where women are seen not for who they are but for how they can be consumed, dissected, and framed within society's expectations. The title flips the script—transforming the woman from object to subject, from the consumed to the consumer.
In this piece, I explore how women absorb and internalize the gaze that seeks to define them, reclaiming the narrative. "Man Eater" embodies both defiance and reflection, challenging the ways women are visually consumed and reasserting control over their bodies, image, and identity. It's an unapologetic act of resistance, shifting the lens from passive observation to active disruption.
This print challenges traditional power structures, confronting the viewer with the question: who truly holds the power in the act of looking? By consuming the gaze, the subject refuses to be devoured by it.
