Aristi Statement:

As a woman, my existence is a constant negotiation between visibility and invisibility, between being seen and being covered. In society, women’s bodies are scrutinized, controlled, and policed—made to conform to ideals of modesty and purity, while simultaneously being objectified. The idea that we are made of flesh, like everyone else, becomes a paradox. Our flesh, something natural and human, is seen as something to be hidden, restrained, or commodified.

Through my work, I explore the tension between flesh and fabric, between exposure and concealment. I aim to challenge the viewer to confront these social constructs, to question why a woman’s body is seen as both a threat and a temptation, something to be covered yet always on display. My art seeks to reclaim the body—unapologetically human, vulnerable, and strong—pushing back against the cultural expectations imposed on women and celebrating the raw, undeniable reality that we are all made of flesh.
